Um ok, wow! I have actually tried this fruit before b/c Johnny’s mom swore by them and gave us a few. She said they were good to go, ready to eat, just peel and slice. So we did — and they were disgusting.

HOWEVER they were like.. white, greenish and super tart and hard. I’m thinking now, by looking at yours, they were ridiculously unripe! I might have to give them another chance now!!

Actually I have had this before — someone I used to work with brought back a jam for us to try (and I forgot where she had been vacationing — maybe southwest somewhere). I remember it being good. I would love to try the fresh fruit though. Where did you find these?

My grocery store has an ‘exotic’ fruit section, but I hardly buy thing from there because a. i am afraid they won’t be ripe. or b. that i won’t like the taste!

Bolthouse Smoothies makes a prickly pear lemonade that’s pretty awesome!
