Happy Day After Turkey Day!
2011
I hope everyone got their fill of gravy, turkey and mashed potatoes! I sure did. I love this time of year, being off work and spending time with family. This years Thanksgiving will be a different kind of memory. My Mom is recovering in the hospital from a routine surgery (she’s going to be just fine!). So I spent about 7 hours with her on Wednesday and after my family and I had our Thanksgiving dinner, I packed up my laptop and headed back to the hospital to hang out with my Momma. She is on a liquid diet so far, so she couldn’t have any turkey or stuffing or the like, just jello and broth!
There was another person on her floor that had about 20 people come visit. They took up the whole lounge and brought Thanksgiving to their loved one, which I thought was nice. No one likes to stay in the hospital any day, let alone a holiday.
So today my niece Hannah is driving there to spend the day with her. And the rest of the weekend will be spent taking care of her and getting her house ready for her to recover comfortably.
And, I made a stellar turkey yesterday – only the 2nd turkey I’ve ever made. The only thing I found out….I didn’t take the bag of giblets out before baking!!
I took the neck out of the cavity and I thought that was it! It didn’t affect the taste of the bird. The bad news…I left my camera battery charger at my office so no pics of my meal! What a disappointment!!
Enjoy your day today – Anyone start shopping at midnight last night?? My girlfriend said she saw Amber from MTV’s teen Mom at an outlet mall here in Illinois – now that’s weird!

Hope your mom is on the mend and home soon! Glad you had a good Thanksgiving!
Cracking up at the thought of you, my cooking friend, leaving the bag of giblets in the turkey! Glad it turned out good, despite the surprise addition.
Glad your mom is on the mend. Being in the hospital on a holiday is a bummer.
No BF shopping here. I hate crowds. I do like Cyber Monday, though!
I hope your mom is doing well! I’m sure she’s ready and willing to go home…I hate the hospital and I sure would be!
Yay for your turkey success! I did absolutely ZERO black friday shopping…and now I kind of feel guilty about it. Is that weird?
