Who watched the Biggest Loser last night? It’s always an episode I want to watch when they run the marathon. Last night after 5 months of training ALL the contestants came back to participate. Even if you were an eliminated player if you won the marathon not only were you guaranteed to be in the final three – you also won $25,000!!!

The thing that always boggles my mind is that not only are these people able to finish the marathon but they finish with really great times! The race started in the desert, then you ran on dirt, then back to the desert. At one point the wind was so bad, it kicked up a sand storm and you could barely see in front of you.

Ramon ended up winning with a time of 5 hours and 5 minutes, which for anyone who has a first marathon, that is a GREAT time – the two marathons I finished were way longer than that and Ramon started out at 350 pounds! I think that is amazing! The 2nd and 3rd place finishers were also under 5 hours 15 minutes.

There was an older contestant Johhny who is 66 years old and I thought there is no way he is going to be able to finish it – but you know what – he walked most of it and finished in 10 hours! And he started his journey at 328 pounds – so it goes to show you are never too old to lose weight or try something like doing a marathon.

I did get choked up a few times during this episode!

So it made me more motivated for my half marathon training. I’ve been trying to run at least 3 days during the week with a longer run on Saturdays. I am NOT a morning person, so its hard for me to get motivated to get up – but I’ve come up with a plan – run right after I get home from work. I mapped out a loop from my house and back that is one mile – so I’m doing either 2-3 laps.

Last night I actually walked home from work – 1.6 miles, got my daughter Claire from her after school program, came home – changed right away and left quickly before I changed my mind. I ended up doing 2 miles – and it was cold out – 29 degrees!

Before I left for work yesterday, I prepped dinner. I cut up chicken breasts and peppers and onions and put those with my homemade marinade all day so all that had to be done was just cook them up – which my 10 year old daughter did while I was stretching – thanks Claire!

And since I am starting to run again I really wanted to get new work out clothes, but I didn’t want to spend a ton of money right before Christmas – so I visited my local resale shop and scored big! This resale shop is called the Economy Shop – it’s a big mansion and every room is filled with different stuff. It’s mostly run by senior citizens and is open once a week. (My Mom volunteers her time in the sewing room).

I knew they had an area in the women’s section that had work out stuff. This is what I got for only $15.00

I got a Columbia sweat shirt, New Balance jacket, running pants, and Reebok and Addidas racing back tank tops! So I am set for a while. I was so excited to find great stuff and best of all – it all fits :)

I’m off to make my lunch for work – so have a great day everyone!

Who do you want to win the Biggest Loser??

I think I want Antone to win – although John is a fierce competitor – so who knows. The finale is Next Tuesday, December 13th.
